Both old and young fish sustain fisheries

Big fish contribute significantly to keeping the population of fisheries going because they lay lots of eggs -- but they are also rare. The more abundant smaller, sexually mature fish may have fewer babies but are just as important to keeping populations going. No-take marine reserves and size and catch limits are important for sustainable fisheries.
